Refreshed

We arrived home from our vacation in Orlando late Saturday night and I have spent most of today unpacking and cleaning and doing all of the little things us moms do in order to keep our homes and our families running smoothly. Our vacation was absolutely perfect! We made so many wonderful memories and this past week will always hold a special place in my heart. I arrived home rested, refreshed, and excited! One of the biggest areas that I feel refreshed is in my passion and joy for … [Read more...]

{Pause} Grace in Action

I was hesitant about committing to The Nester's 31 Day Challenge because of how busy my calendar was mid-October, but I went for it anyway and I am really glad that I did. This challenge has really helped me to develop discipline as a blogger and as a writer. But nonetheless, here I am at the peak of the busyness, and I am finding myself unable to keep up with posting every single day. This past weekend, my husband and I took our youth group to a fall student retreat and I had poor internet … [Read more...]

Behind the Blog {Sept. 2012}

Books I've Read... The Quotidian Mysteries: Laundry, Liturgy and Woman's "Work" by Kathleen Norris I read this book based on recommendations from Sarah Bessey. I have to say it wasn't quite what I expected, meaning she didn't write about the everyday in oversimplified terms, but the book read more like a memoir with great insight in many areas of life. I enjoyed her writing style and will definitely be reading more of her books.  Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith by Ann … [Read more...]

Why Hello There!

So it's been almost a month since my last blog post. It's funny, because if you look back through my archives, you will notice that I always seem to disappear around this time of year because our summer schedule is pretty crazy. But I just wanted to say hi, and give a little update of what we have been up to. Phillip went on a 10-day mission trip to Jamaica a few weeks ago. It was the longest he has ever been away from me and the boys, and we sure were happy to have him back. We picked him … [Read more...]

VA Children’s Museum

While we were in Virginia this summer, we took the boys to the Virginia Children's Museum.    Little Man's favorite area was the pet shop. And his favorite thing to do was crawl in and out of the dog house. He probably did this for 15 minutes or so.     He also really enjoyed looking at the trains.     Buddy loved driving the fire truck!       I think Buddy's favorite area was the theatre. They had lots of costumes for dress up. The kids could control the … [Read more...]

Virginia Beach

This was our third summer taking some of our teens from church to Virginia to work with an inner city camp in the Norfolk area. When we are there, we are only about 30 minutes from Virginia Beach, so we always try to head over there several times during the trip.We didn't have great weather that week, so we only made it to the beach twice. The first time was July 4. The beach was crazy busy and with all of the stuff that we had to carry, I didn't even attempt to bring my nice camera for fear of … [Read more...]

Learning my DSLR

The boys and I had a nice visit with my grandparents last week. I might have been a little over-ambitious in my list of things I had hoped to accomplish during my trip. I never got around to any reading any books, knitting, or planning, but I did get to play around with my camera in the manual setting. (I also got caught up on the entire season of Project Runway. Good thing I don't watch TV at home anymore or I wouldn't get anything done!)    It was the perfect week to work on improving my … [Read more...]
