Introducing Amelia Rose {Her Birth Story}

Our sweet baby girl will be four months old on Tuesday and I realized I have yet to introduce her to you, my blog readers!  So better late than never, I’d like you to meet Amelia Rose. She was born on Friday, October 13, 2017. She weighed 9lbs 15oz, and as you can see, she was born with a head-full of black hair just like her Daddy. Even though she was my fourth, I was so nervous about her birth. After two inductions with epidurals (one of which was a vacuum-assisted delivery), and one … [Read more...]

DIY Babywearing

For the past few weeks, my friend Gretchen has been hosting a great blog series called For the Love of Babywearing in honor of International Babywearing Week (which was October 4-10) and World Babywearing Awareness Month. I have been babywearing for over 7 years now and truly can’t imagine parenting without wearing my little ones. In my babywearing journey, I have tried just about every style of carrier available and have even made a few of my own. Join me over at Gretchen's … [Read more...]

DIY Co-Sleeper Review {One Year Later}

A little over a year ago, I blogged about the DIY Co-Sleeping Crib we made and it became pretty popular on Pinterest with over 152,000 pins to date. I had no idea that so many people would be inspired by our little IKEA hack, and since I blogged about the co-sleeping crib before Kate was born, I thought it would be helpful if I shared my review after using it for one year. The Quick Version I love it and I wouldn't change a thing! We are still happily using it and will continue to do so … [Read more...]

Crafting for Baby

You all know that I love to knit, sew, and wield a hot glue gun. Well, when I found out that I was having a little girl, my hands got busy making all of the little pretties my time and budget would allow for. This past weekend, I finished up the last few small projects, so now I am ready to show you her mama-made stash! First up, are some sweet little dresses that I knit using this pattern. The purplish green dress on the left was knit from Madelinetosh DK in Cosmos, and the red dress on the … [Read more...]

Our DIY Co-Sleeping Crib

We co-slept with both of our boys, and plan to do the same with our baby girl. With the boys, I just put a toddler bed rail up on the side of my bed to prevent them from falling off, but the bed rails are so unattractive, and I really don't want to put one on my bed again, since I just finished decorating our master bedroom. (You can find more pictures of our master bedroom here.) I started looking at co-sleepers on Craigslist, and decided to check out Pinterest as well, where I found this DIY … [Read more...]

Thinking Pink

If you missed the announcement on my Facebook page, we are so very excited to announce that we are having a baby girl!!! Phillip had me convinced it would be another boy, which I was perfectly okay with because I LOVE being a mom to boys. But as it got closer to the time for us to find out, I really started wanting a girl and I knew Jack and Aidan really wanted a sister. I have been collecting and making little girly things for a few years now in hopes of someday having a daughter, adding … [Read more...]

A Whole Lot of Happy

One month ago I was packing up our house for storage, our suitcases for my mother-in-law's, and caught somewhere in the middle of excitement and anxiety. Today, I am happy to say that we are living in the house with stairs! The closing went so smoothly that Phillip and I walked out of the office feeling like they might call us any second to say that they had overlooked something major and the deal was off. But they didn't and that feeling slowly went away and was replaced by the "pinch … [Read more...]

How to Shop Diaper Swappers

I love Diaperswappers!Not only for the amazing deals I have found on cloth diapers, but also for the community of mama's whose parenting styles are very similar to mine. There are so many discussion forums that have topics on everything you can think of as it relates to natural parenting. It has been an amazing resource to me as a mama. But I will have to say that I was a little intimidated at first, because I  didn't know much about posting on forums. So, for any of you that feel the … [Read more...]

Cloth Diapering 101: Getting Started

I have a couple of friends who are expecting and are thinking about using cloth diapers. They have both asked me about what they need to get started, so I thought I would post my advice here on the blog in case any of you are wondering the same thing. First up, I would recommend purchasing used diapers from either Craigslist or Diaper Swappers. That will save you a lot of money up front and allow you to try out cloth diapering without investing too much money. If you have never shopped … [Read more...]

DIY Mei Tai Baby Carrier

This past Summer, I purchased a woven wrap and was so excited to be able to wear Little Man on my back so that I could get some housework done. Although I loved the look and feel of the wrap, I didn't love putting it on. It took too long for me to get on and I didn't feel comfortable putting Little Man on my back by myself. So I began the search for a soft structured carrier. The two types of carriers that fall into this category are buckle carriers and Mei Tai's. I was able to try on both … [Read more...]
