3 Weeks

Today our little Kate is three weeks old. I can't believe how quickly these 21 days have passed and how much she has changed and grown in such a short time. I want time to slooooow down, but I know it won't, so I am doing my very best to be fully present and enjoy every moment, hold her as much as I can and take lots of pictures, because I know that in the blink of an eye, she will be as big as these two boys running around my house. When Jack was a baby, I remember being … [Read more...]

And Then There Were Five…

I am so excited to introduce you to the newest member of our family... Our sweet little Kate arrived on Friday evening and she is absolutely beautiful! It is so surreal that she is finally here. To feel her kicking in my belly one night and then to be holding her in my arms the next...even after three kids, I am still so very fascinated by the miracle of pregnancy and birth and new life. I loved her while she was growing inside of me, and as I decorated her room and knitted and sewed … [Read more...]

In which I tell you about God healing Aidan

As I begin to pack for our Fall Student Retreat, I am checking the weather to see if I need to pack long sleeves, washing the last load of laundry to make sure that the boys have enough clean jeans, and wondering whether or not we should take their scooters. What I am not doing is running to the grocery store to purchase special snacks for Aidan. I am not spending the day in the kitchen preparing special meals to take in a cooler. Why? Because this summer, God healed Aidan. You hold … [Read more...]

34 Weeks {A Daybook}

I've always enjoyed reading the daybook posts of other bloggers, so I thought I would try one of my own. Of course, I am writing this at night, so I may already be doing it wrong. Oh well! Outside my window... It is cool and dark and the crickets are especially loud this evening. I am thinking about... All of the little things on my to do list that I obsessively check numerous times throughout the day. I am thankful... For my sweet boys. They are so precious and such a joy to … [Read more...]

We Survived Another Summer Camp!

My husband is a youth minister and every summer, we work two weeks of church camp. This year, my husband was the camp director for the state, so we attended all four weeks of camp and I am happy to say that we not only survived...we had a GREAT time! The first week, we hosted the Boys and Girls Club Marching Band from Montego Bay, Jamaica. They were so much fun to hang out with and we were sad to say goodbye. Several of our friends who work camp have kids the same age as the boys, so … [Read more...]

A Whole Lot of Happy

One month ago I was packing up our house for storage, our suitcases for my mother-in-law's, and caught somewhere in the middle of excitement and anxiety. Today, I am happy to say that we are living in the house with stairs! The closing went so smoothly that Phillip and I walked out of the office feeling like they might call us any second to say that they had overlooked something major and the deal was off. But they didn't and that feeling slowly went away and was replaced by the "pinch … [Read more...]

{Not So} Happy Easter

If my boys look a bit pitiful in this picture, it's because they were in the early stages of coming down with a nasty stomach virus that still has the both of them and myself in the bed as I type these words. I haven't been feeling well since Thursday, Jack started feeling it Friday night, and Aidan got it on Sunday morning (on top of his double ear infection), and it has been rough! Thankfully Phillip has not shown any signs of illness, so he has been lovingly and patiently taking care of the … [Read more...]

Goodbye, Hello {January 2013 edition}

January has been a fun and busy month! :: in the ministry :: We are settling in well at our new church and making lots of friends. Phillip and I have been working on redesigning our student center, and we turned the old game room into a cool coffee shop where I have had a lot of fun painting and thrifting and decorating. The boys love hanging out at the student center all day because the main room is a big as a gymnasium and it has concrete floors - the perfect place to ride trikes and … [Read more...]

On Finding God in My Kitchen

I sat down at my computer multiple times last week to write, but ended up staring at the blinking cursor on the screen. Tapping out a few words, backspace, backspace. Close. Don't save. Shut screen. No words coming to mind. So this is writer’s block, I think to myself. No words come to mind because all that I can think of is food. The Bible says to not worry about what you will eat or drink. But what if your child has digestive issues? What if certain foods cause your little one … [Read more...]
