Moving On

I'm sorry that I have been so quiet here and on social media lately. It's been one thing after another around here and whenever life starts feeling overwhelming, I tend to retreat from the hustle and bustle of the online world. If you had told me back in November that this transition of commuting and trying to sell our house would take over six months, I would have told you that I would not be able to survive that long. But here we are, six months later, and although it has difficult, the … [Read more...]

Under Contract

Our house is finally under contract! Despite my being a fair weather fan, God has been faithful. We are supposed to close on the sale of this house on April 29th and we are beginning the process to purchase the house with stairs. A year ago I would have told you that it would take a miracle for me to ever leave this house, but God performed a miracle in my heart and now I am so excited about moving and making our new house a home. Please pray with me that the closing process of both … [Read more...]

On Being a Fair Weather Fan

This past Sunday, our church members were told to wear their favorite team colors or jerseys to church. My husband and I are not into sports at all, so we had no jerseys and honestly wouldn’t even know what color combinations to put together to represent a team. Phillip, being the funny guy that he is, asked me to make him a shirt that said Team Jesus, so I went to the craft store and bought some iron-on letters, and there you have it, a custom team jersey. When he opened up the service with … [Read more...]

Count Your Blessings

One of my all time favorite Christmas songs is a song that Bing Crosby sings in White Christmas called Count Your Blessings.  (My favorite version is sung by Diana Krall and you can listen to it here.) When I'm worried and I can't sleep I count my blessings instead of sheep And I fall asleep counting my blessings When my bank roll is getting small I think of when I had none at all And I fall asleep counting my blessings Whenever this song comes up on my playlist, I pause and smile as … [Read more...]

Hello Monday!

Life was busier than usual last week, so things were a little bit quiet here on the blog. I thought I would join Lisa Leonard today with a Hello Monday post to give you a peek at a few things that have been going on around here. Hello newly staged playroom! We met with a realtor on Friday to show him our house and get an idea of the market and what price we should list our house at. He is pretty confident that he can sell it quickly and for a good price, so we are happy about that. We … [Read more...]

Thank Him For His Faithfulness

As a person who likes to have a plan for just about everything, living a life of faith and obedience isn't always easy. I too often plan out the perfect scenario in my head, and then pray that God will act accordingly. Sometimes He has answered my prayers as I prayed them, but more often than not, He has answered with a "no" or a "not right now" or a "yes, but not that way." And looking back, I am so thankful that He didn't give me what I asked for exactly the way I asked for it, because some of … [Read more...]

Trusting God with the Details

So we went and looked at the house today. You know, the one with stairs. And guess what? It actually has two staircases. The main staircase near the front door, and a hidden set of stairs that go from the upstairs bonus room to the downstairs laundry room. For a 4 year old boy who desperately wants stairs, I can’t think of anything cooler than a hidden, secret staircase. The house is exactly what we are looking for with some added bonuses. It actually has 4 bedrooms, plus a large bonus … [Read more...]

Losing It

A few months ago, I sat on the floor of my dining room turned crafty home office, with a large pad of paper and black sharpie marker in hand. From time to time I feel the need to re-evaluate my life and my goals, and this was one of those days. Across the top of the paper I wrote, My life is a gift from God. How am I going to live it? I began to write down the categories of my life: wife, mother, homemaker, home educator, minister. I then began to list changes and improvements that I needed to … [Read more...]
