We Survived Another Summer Camp!

My husband is a youth minister and every summer, we work two weeks of church camp. This year, my husband was the camp director for the state, so we attended all four weeks of camp and I am happy to say that we not only survived...we had a GREAT time! The first week, we hosted the Boys and Girls Club Marching Band from Montego Bay, Jamaica. They were so much fun to hang out with and we were sad to say goodbye. Several of our friends who work camp have kids the same age as the boys, so … [Read more...]

{Not So} Happy Easter

If my boys look a bit pitiful in this picture, it's because they were in the early stages of coming down with a nasty stomach virus that still has the both of them and myself in the bed as I type these words. I haven't been feeling well since Thursday, Jack started feeling it Friday night, and Aidan got it on Sunday morning (on top of his double ear infection), and it has been rough! Thankfully Phillip has not shown any signs of illness, so he has been lovingly and patiently taking care of the … [Read more...]

Praying For Our Children

Crafts, baking, read-alouds, play groups, homemade gifts, special celebrations, and all of the other things on our “be a better Mommy” to-do list, pale in comparison to the greatest thing that we can do for our children, and that is to pray for them. I believe there is power in prayer and that the prayers we pray over our children are monumental in shaping the course of their lives. “You’ll never be a perfect parent, but you can be a praying parent. Prayer is your highest privilege as a … [Read more...]

His Batman Beard

Yesterday was Buddy's 4th birthday. Since we already had his Fireman Party, we just had a simple but fun day together as a family.The night before, after the boys had went to bed, I decorated our dining area and made Buddy a felt birthday crown.When he woke up, he put on his crown and begged to open his presents, so we let him do that first.I tried to get a cute picture of him in his crown, and then realized the balloon string was in the way.Here's what I got when I asked him to smile for … [Read more...]

Four

My little Buddy is four today. I know I am supposed to say that I can't believe he is four already, but I can. He acts like he is four and it feels like he's been with us forever. As hard as it is for a mama to watch her baby grow up so big that she can hardly hold him (oh but I still do), I LOVE this stage of life with him!He is so incredibly creative. "Mom, an idea just flew into my head!"He loves to dress himself. I would say his style is eclectic. :)His preferred home attire consists of … [Read more...]

Fireman Birthday Party {Part 2}

After having lunch, cake, and opening presents at our house (see Part 1), we all headed to the local fire station for a tour. I don't know if every city does this, but our local fire stations give free educational tours, complete with hats and goodies at the end. You simply just call and make a reservation.When we arrived at the fire station, the firemen first showed us the fire trucks.They even allowed the kids to walk through the main cab area. They loved this part!After we looked at the … [Read more...]

Fireman Birthday Party {Part 1}

On Saturday, we had a fireman themed birthday party for both Buddy (4) and Little Man (2). Their birthdays are only a few weeks apart and since they both love fireman, we decided to just have one big party and invite everybody! We started out at our house with lunch, cake, and gifts before heading out for a tour of the local fire station. To keep this post from being entirely too long, I will divide it into two separate ones. So here are some of the pictures from the first half of the … [Read more...]

I’m Back

Wow! When I mentioned I might be taking a small break back in September, I had no idea that it would turn into two months. We had such a crazy summer that went straight into a very busy September with my sister-in-law's wedding and my ladies retreat back to back. I didn't realize how much I needed to get my life and routines back in order until I actually did. As a mama of two little ones,I only get small snippets of time each day to work on things that require mental energy. So where before … [Read more...]
