34 Weeks {A Daybook}

I've always enjoyed reading the daybook posts of other bloggers, so I thought I would try one of my own. Of course, I am writing this at night, so I may already be doing it wrong. Oh well! Outside my window... It is cool and dark and the crickets are especially loud this evening. I am thinking about... All of the little things on my to do list that I obsessively check numerous times throughout the day. I am thankful... For my sweet boys. They are so precious and such a joy to … [Read more...]

Behind the Blog {Sept. 2012}

Books I've Read... The Quotidian Mysteries: Laundry, Liturgy and Woman's "Work" by Kathleen Norris I read this book based on recommendations from Sarah Bessey. I have to say it wasn't quite what I expected, meaning she didn't write about the everyday in oversimplified terms, but the book read more like a memoir with great insight in many areas of life. I enjoyed her writing style and will definitely be reading more of her books.  Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith by Ann … [Read more...]

DIY Gratitude Tree

Last Thanksgiving, we started the tradition of making a gratitude project to take over to my in-laws house for our family Thanksgiving meal. Last year, we made watercolors leaves and each member of the family wrote what they were thankful for on a leaf and hung it on a branch. Then after dinner, we took turns sharing what we wrote. This year, I thought it would be fun for the boys to paint a tree because painting is probably their most favorite thing to do. My husband had a piece of scrap … [Read more...]

Thanksgiving Playscape

With Buddy being three this Thanksgiving season, I have really been trying to help him understand the story of Thanksgiving. I was visiting Rhythm of the Home the other day and I saw this cute idea for a Thanksgiving inspired wooden playset. I already had some wooden peg dolls and acrylic paints on hand, so Buddy and I started our little project. Once we got started, the ideas just kept coming as we created the playscape. (I found the paper towel tube canoe idea at Crafty … [Read more...]

A Trip to the Dairy Farm

A local dairy farm invited all of the youth pastors in our area to the opening of their corn maze for the fall, in hopes that we will take our youth groups their later this season. So last night, our little family loaded up and headed up the interstate or "fast road" as Buddy likes to call it. They had added several things to the farm since we had last been there, including a gorgeous pavilion where we were treated to a delicious complimentary BBQ dinner. (Kind of blew the diet, but I'm … [Read more...]

Thanksgiving Crafts and Gratitude

Thanksgiving "Eve" was a fun day of crafting for the boys and I. We celebrate Thanksgiving with a big dinner at my in-laws house. Because my husband has four sisters that are very handy in the kitchen, there isn't much I have to do in the food department. So I decided that the boys and I would start a tradition of making place-cards for the dinner and also some type of gratitude activity for the family to take part in. I saw some cute place-card crafts on The Crafty Crow blog and I borrowed … [Read more...]

Autumn Nature Table

I know that soon we will be decorating for Christmas, but I had to share some pictures of my Autumn nature table as well as some other Autumn themed decorating we did around the playroom. Here is a picture our nature table. I found this leaf shaped wooden tray at our local thrift store and knew it would be perfect for our fall nature collections. In our tray, we have some things we have collected on our walks and outdoor adventuring: a pine cone, some feathers, pretty leaves, a cool branch, … [Read more...]
