Perpectives on Motherhood and Writing

Hello! How is your January going so far? I'm not really a January 1st kind of a girl, but rather view the entire month of January as a time to reflect, plan, and start making small positive changes in necessary areas. I feel like we have finally fallen back into a weekly rhythm as a family, and I have been able to take a little time to myself the past two Sunday afternoons to work on my PowerSheets. I love them and I can't wait to share some of my goals and intentions for 2015 over the next … [Read more...]

My Hello and My Sorry

So it's been a while since I've last blogged. An almost 10-month loooong while. I never intended to stop blogging altogether. Life just got a little, shall we say, busy. And my poor little blog was shoved to the bottom of the list and never again resurfaced for air. Oh, I wrote many posts in my head, and wanted to share pictures and such with you, but the amount of time that had passed made it feel awkward to just pop-in randomly without first saying hello and sorry I haven't written in a while, … [Read more...]

Seasons Change

We've had an unusually rainy and cool summer down here in Georgia. Even though the calendar says we have four weeks until autumn, the school bus driving up the street, the cozy cardigan I am wearing, and hot cup of coffee I am sipping, leads me to believe that autumn has already arrived. I've been thinking a lot about seasons and change lately. When I wrote back in February that I felt like I was entering into a season of quiet, I had no idea that six months later, I would still be here, … [Read more...]

When You Struggle To Find Your Niche

There are some high school graduates that walk off the stage, diploma in hand, knowing exactly what they want to do with their life. They enter college, declare their major, and go on to have the successful career of which they dreamed. That was not me. There are some bloggers who start a blog knowing exactly what they want to blog about and they go on to have the successful blog of which they dreamed. That was not me either. Join me over at Allume today where I share about my … [Read more...]

Quiet

I am feeling very quiet these days. Introspective. Contemplative. I am a person that very much needs to have a strong grasp on the who and the why. Who I am and why is it that I do the things I do? When life brings major changes as it has for me these past few months, I often feel the need to retreat, to pull back so that I can think and evaluate and make sure that I am not losing myself and sight of my priorities amidst the change. Right now, I don't feel that I have much to … [Read more...]

When You Feel Like a Wannabe

For me, blogging has been a lot like running. Three years ago, I gazed out the window of my computer screen and saw the bloggers passing by, and thought, I want to be one of them. I started a little blog and began writing about this and that, trying to find my voice and figure out who I was as a blogger and a writer. Head down, I kept to myself, quietly tapping away at the keys. I slowly gained confidence and began venturing out of my little blogging neighborhood to join the real bloggers … [Read more...]

Goodbye, Hello {January 2013 edition}

January has been a fun and busy month! :: in the ministry :: We are settling in well at our new church and making lots of friends. Phillip and I have been working on redesigning our student center, and we turned the old game room into a cool coffee shop where I have had a lot of fun painting and thrifting and decorating. The boys love hanging out at the student center all day because the main room is a big as a gymnasium and it has concrete floors - the perfect place to ride trikes and … [Read more...]

Hello Monday!

Life was busier than usual last week, so things were a little bit quiet here on the blog. I thought I would join Lisa Leonard today with a Hello Monday post to give you a peek at a few things that have been going on around here. Hello newly staged playroom! We met with a realtor on Friday to show him our house and get an idea of the market and what price we should list our house at. He is pretty confident that he can sell it quickly and for a good price, so we are happy about that. We … [Read more...]

Ponder

I, like so many others, came back from Allume full of excitement about moving forward with my ideas, my blog, and my ministry. But I also came back from Allume having received wisdom from those who have “been there and done that.” And a word that I can’t seem to get off my mind is ponder. I feel like the Lord is telling me to still my restless heart and ponder for just a moment. He knows that I have a fire burning inside of me, a passion to go after whatever it is that He has for me. He … [Read more...]

Reflections on Allume

{Me and my sweet friend Faith. She's the reason that I went to Allume and I am so thankful for her encouragement.} I went to the Allume Conference with no plans, no goals, and no expectations, but with an open mind and an open heart to receive whatever God wanted to speak to me. And let me tell you, He didn’t just speak. In the words of Sarah Markley, He shouted. In fact, He even diverted my travel plans to allow me to spend 8 hours in a car with Sally Clarkson, who poured so much wisdom … [Read more...]
