{Not So} Happy Easter

If my boys look a bit pitiful in this picture, it's because they were in the early stages of coming down with a nasty stomach virus that still has the both of them and myself in the bed as I type these words. I haven't been feeling well since Thursday, Jack started feeling it Friday night, and Aidan got it on Sunday morning (on top of his double ear infection), and it has been rough! Thankfully Phillip has not shown any signs of illness, so he has been lovingly and patiently taking care of the … [Read more...]

On Finding God in My Kitchen

I sat down at my computer multiple times last week to write, but ended up staring at the blinking cursor on the screen. Tapping out a few words, backspace, backspace. Close. Don't save. Shut screen. No words coming to mind. So this is writer’s block, I think to myself. No words come to mind because all that I can think of is food. The Bible says to not worry about what you will eat or drink. But what if your child has digestive issues? What if certain foods cause your little one … [Read more...]

His Batman Beard

Yesterday was Buddy's 4th birthday. Since we already had his Fireman Party, we just had a simple but fun day together as a family.The night before, after the boys had went to bed, I decorated our dining area and made Buddy a felt birthday crown.When he woke up, he put on his crown and begged to open his presents, so we let him do that first.I tried to get a cute picture of him in his crown, and then realized the balloon string was in the way.Here's what I got when I asked him to smile for … [Read more...]

Four

My little Buddy is four today. I know I am supposed to say that I can't believe he is four already, but I can. He acts like he is four and it feels like he's been with us forever. As hard as it is for a mama to watch her baby grow up so big that she can hardly hold him (oh but I still do), I LOVE this stage of life with him!He is so incredibly creative. "Mom, an idea just flew into my head!"He loves to dress himself. I would say his style is eclectic. :)His preferred home attire consists of … [Read more...]

Fireman Birthday Party {Part 2}

After having lunch, cake, and opening presents at our house (see Part 1), we all headed to the local fire station for a tour. I don't know if every city does this, but our local fire stations give free educational tours, complete with hats and goodies at the end. You simply just call and make a reservation.When we arrived at the fire station, the firemen first showed us the fire trucks.They even allowed the kids to walk through the main cab area. They loved this part!After we looked at the … [Read more...]

Fireman Birthday Party {Part 1}

On Saturday, we had a fireman themed birthday party for both Buddy (4) and Little Man (2). Their birthdays are only a few weeks apart and since they both love fireman, we decided to just have one big party and invite everybody! We started out at our house with lunch, cake, and gifts before heading out for a tour of the local fire station. To keep this post from being entirely too long, I will divide it into two separate ones. So here are some of the pictures from the first half of the … [Read more...]

Celebrating

Yesterday was Little Man's 2nd birthday. We are planning a joint birthday party for Little Man and Buddy in a couple of weeks, because Buddy's birthday is in March, and they both like the same things and have the same friends. So yesterday, we just kept it simple and sweet. While Little Man napped on Wednesday, Buddy painted him some pictures and found some small toys out of the playroom to give Little Man as gifts. Then he went and got some white printer paper and wrapped the gifts for his … [Read more...]

Two

This is starting to feel like a while ago...But this seriously feels like yesterday!Where has the year gone and where is my baby?He's the big TWO today. (But he'll always be my baby as far as I'm concerned.)This little guy brings so much energy, silliness, zeal, sweetness, and joy to our family. Just as I thought I had this mothering thing down, he came along and challenged me in new ways. But I think after two years, I almost have him figured out.He prefers tickles and wrestling to snuggles and … [Read more...]
