May Days

I used to be better about snapping candid photos of the kids throughout the week, capturing the beautiful ordinary parts of our days. Over the past year, I kind of got bogged down with the busyness of homeschooling and preparing to move, and forgot to pick up my real camera as much as I should have. Now that we have moved, I am purposefully leaving my camera on a little side table in the dining room so I am reminded to pick it up and capture these moments I don't want to forget. Like the kids … [Read more...]

Little Red Riding Hood

I made Kate a Little Red Riding Hood cape for her Halloween costume. I followed this easy tutorial and lined it with a cute owl flannel to make it extra warm. I also thought the one in the tutorial looked a little plain from the back, so I added a ruffle to the bottom. I can't get enough of that sweet smile. Cheese! I had enough fabric left to make a matching little cape for her dolly, but not enough to add a ruffle. Sorry dolly. Jack hasn't been feeling well at all today, … [Read more...]

Kate’s County Fair 1st Birthday Party

With Kate having a late fall birthday, I wanted to incorporate the season and it's beautiful colors into her party. After a quick search on Pinterest, I knew a county fair themed party would be the perfect way to celebrate Kate's first birthday, especially when I realized my vintage red & white baby dress was sized 12 months and would make an adorable party dress for our little sweetie pie! Before the party officially … [Read more...]

One Year {Almost}

Kate will be turning one tomorrow and we have a big celebration planned. I have spent the week crafting and preparing for her party and it's been so much fun! Confession: I LOVE throwing birthday parties for my kids. I don't do it to impress or to earn supermom points. I do it because it combines three things that I absolutely love: hosting gatherings, crafting, and my family. I've been taking a little walk down memory lane as I have been going through pictures from her first year to … [Read more...]

Third Time’s a Charm

Jack 2008 // Aidan 2010 // Kate 2014 // Phillip bought this cute little pumpkin outfit when I was pregnant with Jack. I'd say we've gotten our money's worth. Hope you had a fun weekend! … [Read more...]

11 Months

Yesterday Kate turned 11 months old. I found the adorable big felt flower headband at Target, but as you can see, Little Miss Kate was not having it. So we switched to a tiny bow and finally got a cute little grin hiding an animal cracker inside. Kate loves her animal crackers. I can't believe my baby girl is almost one, but I am so very excited to enter into this fun age of play and learning. … [Read more...]

3 Weeks

Today our little Kate is three weeks old. I can't believe how quickly these 21 days have passed and how much she has changed and grown in such a short time. I want time to slooooow down, but I know it won't, so I am doing my very best to be fully present and enjoy every moment, hold her as much as I can and take lots of pictures, because I know that in the blink of an eye, she will be as big as these two boys running around my house. When Jack was a baby, I remember being … [Read more...]

And Then There Were Five…

I am so excited to introduce you to the newest member of our family... Our sweet little Kate arrived on Friday evening and she is absolutely beautiful! It is so surreal that she is finally here. To feel her kicking in my belly one night and then to be holding her in my arms the next...even after three kids, I am still so very fascinated by the miracle of pregnancy and birth and new life. I loved her while she was growing inside of me, and as I decorated her room and knitted and sewed … [Read more...]

In which I tell you about God healing Aidan

As I begin to pack for our Fall Student Retreat, I am checking the weather to see if I need to pack long sleeves, washing the last load of laundry to make sure that the boys have enough clean jeans, and wondering whether or not we should take their scooters. What I am not doing is running to the grocery store to purchase special snacks for Aidan. I am not spending the day in the kitchen preparing special meals to take in a cooler. Why? Because this summer, God healed Aidan. You hold … [Read more...]

We Survived Another Summer Camp!

My husband is a youth minister and every summer, we work two weeks of church camp. This year, my husband was the camp director for the state, so we attended all four weeks of camp and I am happy to say that we not only survived...we had a GREAT time! The first week, we hosted the Boys and Girls Club Marching Band from Montego Bay, Jamaica. They were so much fun to hang out with and we were sad to say goodbye. Several of our friends who work camp have kids the same age as the boys, so … [Read more...]
