Introducing Amelia Rose {Her Birth Story}

Our sweet baby girl will be four months old on Tuesday and I realized I have yet to introduce her to you, my blog readers!  So better late than never, I’d like you to meet Amelia Rose. She was born on Friday, October 13, 2017. She weighed 9lbs 15oz, and as you can see, she was born with a head-full of black hair just like her Daddy. Even though she was my fourth, I was so nervous about her birth. After two inductions with epidurals (one of which was a vacuum-assisted delivery), and one … [Read more...]

Teaching Dolch Words with Logic of English

Hello friends. I hope you are enjoying your summer! Due to back-to-back moves with a vacation sandwiched in between, we ended up taking about 4 weeks off from homeschooling this spring, so we are still finishing up our final weeks of school with the occasional break here and there. But don't worry, the kids are still having a blast with swim lessons, great library programming, VBS, drama camp, and season passes to Six Flags. We will probably finish up this school year sometime in July, and … [Read more...]

Spring Has Come

Hello there! I hope you are well and have been enjoying these first weeks of spring. Our oldest, Jack, was born on the first day of spring, so I have such sweet feelings associated with the beginning of this season. And after a what has felt like such a very long season of winter in my life, I am so happy to be experiencing the warmth and new beginnings of my very own spring. As most of you know, over a year ago my family took a big step of faith and moved from Georgia to Virginia to … [Read more...]

Back to School

It’s that time of year. Green Gables Schoolhouse is back in session! After a busy summer of camps and traveling, I am so happy to be back home and back to school. Most people look forward to summer break, but I look forward to the first day of school. I am a person who thrives on schedules and routines, so summer totally throws me off my game. While we do not follow a strict schedule during our school year, we do fall into a nice rhythm that seems to bring out the best in both me and the … [Read more...]

May Days

I used to be better about snapping candid photos of the kids throughout the week, capturing the beautiful ordinary parts of our days. Over the past year, I kind of got bogged down with the busyness of homeschooling and preparing to move, and forgot to pick up my real camera as much as I should have. Now that we have moved, I am purposefully leaving my camera on a little side table in the dining room so I am reminded to pick it up and capture these moments I don't want to forget. Like the kids … [Read more...]

My Review of Logic of English Essentials

We are unpacking and getting settled in at the new house. In the meantime, I am trying to reestablish our homeschool rhythm and already thinking about my plans for next year and the changes I want to make. If you are a fellow homeschooling mom, you are probably also thinking ahead to next year, so I want to tell you about my experience with the Logic of English Essentials program. Logic of English is fairly new to the homeschooling scene. In 2012, I went to the Teach Them Diligently … [Read more...]

DIY Babywearing

For the past few weeks, my friend Gretchen has been hosting a great blog series called For the Love of Babywearing in honor of International Babywearing Week (which was October 4-10) and World Babywearing Awareness Month. I have been babywearing for over 7 years now and truly can’t imagine parenting without wearing my little ones. In my babywearing journey, I have tried just about every style of carrier available and have even made a few of my own. Join me over at Gretchen's … [Read more...]

Our Homeschooling Plans for 2015-2016

Hello friends! We are planning to start school on Monday and since my mind is occupied with all things homeschooling at the moment, I thought I would share a bit about our plans for the upcoming school year. Jack is seven and will be starting 2nd grade. Aidan is 5 and will be starting Kindergarten. Kate is 21 months and will be destroying the school room while we work. Haha. But seriously. Last year we began using the Ambleside Online Curriculum, which isn't really a curriculum nor … [Read more...]

Distracted By Fear

During the IF:Gathering, the Lord showed me three specific ways that I have been allowing myself to be distracted from fully being the Woman of God and leader He has called me to be. Last week I shared how I am easily distracted by others when I allow too many voices to influence me or when I spend too much time looking at what others are doing causing me to lose sight or confidence in what God has called me to do. Today I will be sharing my third distraction. Distraction #3: Fear of Not Being … [Read more...]

On Grief and Motherhood

Two weeks ago, Phillip and I spent Friday afternoon at Starbucks followed by a dinner date. I worked on my plans for the local IF:Gathering I’m hosting and had some great conversations with Phillip about our family, our callings, and our future. I spent that Sunday afternoon working on my Powersheets and left the coffee shop feeling so energized and focused and excited about 2015. It was a great weekend! Later that night, I received a call from my sister that our grandpa was ill and had been … [Read more...]
