Crafting for Baby

You all know that I love to knit, sew, and wield a hot glue gun. Well, when I found out that I was having a little girl, my hands got busy making all of the little pretties my time and budget would allow for. This past weekend, I finished up the last few small projects, so now I am ready to show you her mama-made stash! First up, are some sweet little dresses that I knit using this pattern. The purplish green dress on the left was knit from Madelinetosh DK in Cosmos, and the red dress on the … [Read more...]

DIY Carseat Canopy/Nursing Cover

Several cool, new baby things have come out since I had Aidan 3 1/2 years ago. One of those things is a carseat canopy, which is basically a blanket that drapes over the carseat, with attached velcro tabs that secure it to the handle. That way if the baby is sleeping or if you are carrying her in the carseat in the cold air or rain, you don't have to worry about the blanket sliding off. Great idea! I shopped around online, but decided I would rather make my own so that I could use fabric … [Read more...]

Get Creative

I love to make things with my hands. Whether it’s sewing, knitting, painting furniture, wielding the glue gun, emptying a container of Mod Podge, or tapping away at the keys to share my heart and tell my story, I can’t imagine my life without a little creativity. It’s like the pumpkin spice in my latte of life. As a creative person, I often hear this comment in reference to something I have made or done. “Wow! The Practice of Creativity

I will never forget the moment when Buddy and I were painting side by side, and he looked over at me with the biggest smile on his face, hugged my arm, and told me he loved me. He tells me he loves me often, but there was just something special about that moment. Something about the way he looked at me. It has happened again several times since then, usually when he and I are doing something creative together. Like this overwhelming feeling of pure joy and contentment hits him, and he can think … [Read more...]

Why I Want To Raise Creative Children

To me, creativity is bigger than being crafty. It is bigger than having some type of artistic ability. Creativity is a mindset. When a creative person looks at something, he doesn't just see what is in front of him. He sees the possibilities of what it could be and how it could be used. When someone tells a creative person that something is impossible, she will figure out a way to make it happen. When a creative person doesn't have the money or exact items necessary, he will use what … [Read more...]

So, about those 2012 goals…

Source The other day, I shared with you a bit about my goal planning process. So today, I will tell you my goals (i.e. resolutions) for 2012. Keep in mind, some of these are more like focus areas than specific goals. These are also not necessarily my only goals for 2012, but areas that I know I want to focus on initially. As the year progresses, I will re-evaluate and make additions and changes as necessary. I will also include some of the books I plan to read this year as they line up … [Read more...]
