34 Weeks {A Daybook}

I’ve always enjoyed reading the daybook posts of other bloggers, so I thought I would try one of my own. Of course, I am writing this at night, so I may already be doing it wrong. Oh well!

Outside my window…

It is cool and dark and the crickets are especially loud this evening.

I am thinking about…

All of the little things on my to do list that I obsessively check numerous times throughout the day.

I am thankful…

For my sweet boys. They are so precious and such a joy to be with each day.

I am praying…

For my family and for the health of my baby and her little cousin due in February.

In the kitchen…

The oven is pre-heating for a late night batch of Nestle Tollhouse Cookies.

In our schoolroom…

We just finished a unit study on apples and How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World. We are currently working on a some Me on the Map inspired activities, and also creating an autumn craft and nature display.

I am wearing…

Whatever fits these days.

I am creating…

A lovely quilt for my baby girl. The pieces are all cut, I just need to find some time this week to begin sewing them together.

I am going…

To our Fall Student Retreat in a few days. Well, at least for one day/night of it. I don’t think I can make it the entire weekend. I get worn out pretty quickly these days.

I am wondering…

What our little girl will look like? How much will she weigh when she’s born?

I am reading…

I literally just finished Still Alice by Lisa Genova about an hour ago. It was sad, beautiful, and thought-provoking. I am looking forward to the release of Allegiant (Divergent Trilogy) by Veronica Roth and also Jesus Feminist: An Invitation to Revisit the Bible’s View of Women by Sarah Bessey later this month. In the meantime, I have reserved The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh at my library. I have heard great things about it, so hopefully it will be available in a few days.

I am hoping…

That I can sleep well tonight. This growing belly isn’t making it easy on me.

I am looking forward to…

Getting new contacts. My last contact ripped about a month ago, and I haven’t made my way over to the eye doctor yet to get a new prescription and order lenses, but I am planning to go next week. I like my glasses, but not to wear every, single day.

I am learning…

Bits and pieces of Photoshop. With the new baby on the way, I really want to improve my photography skills to capture the precious everyday moments.

Around the house…

I am trying to figure out an eclectic wall display to hang over the bed in the nursery/guest room. I have a few frames, as well as embroidery hoops that I would like to include, but nothing is really inspiring me at the moment.

A favorite quote for the day…

“She remembered being six or seven and crying over the fates of the butterflies in her yard after learning that they lived for only a few days. Her mother had comforted her and told her not to be sad for the butterflies, that just because their lives were short didn’t mean they were tragic. Watching them flying in the warm sun among the daisies in their garden, her mother had said to her, see, they have a beautiful life.”

― Lisa Genova, Still Alice

I am listening to…

Mostly a playlist I made for the boys for Scripture memory with songs from various CD’s by Songs for Saplings and Seeds Family Worship. I also enjoy listening to a worship playlist that Phillip made for me including songs from Passion, Hillsong United, Rend Collective’s Homemade Worship By Handmade People, and the Robbie Seay Band.

A few of my favorite things…

The little touches of fall color that I have been adding around the house.

Please excuse the spotty mirror and the unmade bed in the background. Just keeping it real.

Happy Wednesday!

Always, Amanda
