DIY Carseat Canopy/Nursing Cover

Several cool, new baby things have come out since I had Aidan 3 1/2 years ago. One of those things is a carseat canopy, which is basically a blanket that drapes over the carseat, with attached velcro tabs that secure it to the handle. That way if the baby is sleeping or if you are carrying her in the carseat in the cold air or rain, you don't have to worry about the blanket sliding off. Great idea! I shopped around online, but decided I would rather make my own so that I could use fabric … [Read more...]

Our Master Bedroom

Phillip and I have been married for ten years, and for most of those ten years, our master bedroom remained kind of neglected in the decorating department. We had no headboard, random bedding, mismatched (in a bad way) side tables and lamps, and an old dresser that looked very small in proportion to our king-sized bed. Two years ago, I was ready to give our master bedroom a makeover and started a board on Pinterest where I began pinning photos of bedrooms that inspired me in some way. That … [Read more...]

DIY TOMS Makeover

Last October, I purchased my first pair of TOMS and they quickly became my everyday shoe. When we were working on our house over the summer, I accidentally got white trim paint on the toes, and they have been sitting neglected on my closet shelf since. Now that fall has once again arrived, I have been in need of some new everyday shoes. I shopped around a bit, but couldn't find anything that I liked as much as my TOMS, but I didn't really want to spend the money on a new pair. I went on … [Read more...]

In which I tell you about God healing Aidan

As I begin to pack for our Fall Student Retreat, I am checking the weather to see if I need to pack long sleeves, washing the last load of laundry to make sure that the boys have enough clean jeans, and wondering whether or not we should take their scooters. What I am not doing is running to the grocery store to purchase special snacks for Aidan. I am not spending the day in the kitchen preparing special meals to take in a cooler. Why? Because this summer, God healed Aidan. You hold … [Read more...]

34 Weeks {A Daybook}

I've always enjoyed reading the daybook posts of other bloggers, so I thought I would try one of my own. Of course, I am writing this at night, so I may already be doing it wrong. Oh well! Outside my window... It is cool and dark and the crickets are especially loud this evening. I am thinking about... All of the little things on my to do list that I obsessively check numerous times throughout the day. I am thankful... For my sweet boys. They are so precious and such a joy to … [Read more...]

Our Superhero Boys’ Room

Disclaimer: The boys' room is never this clean. It was actually quite a disaster the other night, and I asked Phillip to help them clean it up while I went to the grocery store, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they did a good deep clean. I figured it was now or never to snap some pictures, because I don't anticipate it looking like this again anytime in the near future. :-) In our old house, the boys had a tiny bedroom that was a pass through to our master bedroom. They shared a … [Read more...]

The First Five Weeks {Homeschooling}

I thought I would take a little break from the home tour to update you on how our homeschool year is going so far. We are 5 weeks in and things are better than I anticipated! I was nervous about transitioning from our very relaxed summer routine into a more structured daily rhythm, but the "schedule" we have been keeping has been relaxed enough for me to not feel pressure, but structured enough that our days have been going very smoothly. Jack loves school and is breezing right through the … [Read more...]

Our Kitchen Makeover

In all of the the updates we made to our new house, our kitchen was definitely the space that received the most amount of work and underwent the biggest transformation. It also took the longest to complete, and there were a couple of times that I wondered if I would ever have cabinet doors again. But all of the work and the wait were so worth the finished results! Kitchen Before: When we first toured the house, I wasn't sure what I thought about the kitchen. I liked the layout and space … [Read more...]
