Refreshed

We arrived home from our vacation in Orlando late Saturday night and I have spent most of today unpacking and cleaning and doing all of the little things us moms do in order to keep our homes and our families running smoothly.

Our vacation was absolutely perfect! We made so many wonderful memories and this past week will always hold a special place in my heart. I arrived home rested, refreshed, and excited!

One of the biggest areas that I feel refreshed is in my passion and joy for motherhood. It was so good to get away and spend quality time with my boys and with my husband, leaving all of the stress and pressures of everyday life behind. I didn’t realize it before our trip, but I now see that I have been struggling in motherhood for the past several months. The boys (now 4 1/2 and 2 1/2) have grown very busy and independent as of late, not needing me as much as they did even just a few months ago. This is a blessing in many ways because it allows me to get much more done, but it is also hard for me because I am definitely an attachment mama who loves to connect through snuggles and kisses and hugs. I feel like I have been wandering around kind of lost without a baby to nurse or a little one who wants to be held most of the day. But this week was a wonderful time to really connect with the boys in their new stages of boyhood and appreciate the cool little guys they are becoming.

I am excited about the upcoming posts that I have planned in my series 31 Days of Intention with a Measure of Grace. I will be writing about homemaking and motherhood this week and the timing could not be more perfect because of the refreshing I have just experienced. I have been reading Sally Clarkson’s The Ministry of Motherhood and it is such a powerful book. I have also been reading The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton, which is a novel about a daughter uncovering a mystery in her mother’s past. It is such a great book and Kate Morton writes so beautifully about the relationship of the aging mother and her five grown children that it just furthers my passion for being intentional in being a mom who makes life beautiful and special for her children, creating wonderful memories of their childhood and knowing they had a mother who absolutely adored them.

I am also so excited and privileged to be attending the Allume Conference later this week. Have you ever been unsure of something but then God just totally opens the door and works out every single little detail for you? That’s how it has been for me with this conference. It will be my first time ever attending anything like this and I am a little bit nervous, but so very excited. If you are going, please come and find me. I would love to connect in real life!

I am looking forward to getting back in the swing of things both in the everyday life and here on the blog. Please join me tomorrow as I resume my series with Day 14, where I will be writing on being intentional in our role as homemaker, which is an area that we probably all need a double dose of grace.

Always,

Amanda
